A former senior staff at the Ministry of Health is accusing the North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa of shirking his responsibility as a parliamentarian. He said the MP only concentrates on his work as a government appointee.
The former Chief Financial Controller and an Internal Auditor of the Ministry of Health Christopher Kofi Eleblu is promising to give the incumbent stiff challenge as he filed his nominations to contest in the NDC parliamentary primaries.
“Okudzeto has failed in using his power as MP to change the lives of the people…since he was elected he has not even met a single community to discuss their problems” Eleblu told a gathering in Juapong.
“Any power that you acquire and do not use it in the interest of the people is fraudulent…because every power, whatever power it is must be used in the interest of the people" he noted.
Kofi Eleblu a chartered accountant by profession was in the last primary in 2011 beaten by only 26 votes margin by Okudzeto Ablakwa.
He said the support he enjoyed while presenting his nomination forms shows he is favourite to beat the Deputy Education Minister.
"You have seen for yourselves the support the people are giving me, that should indicate to you that the people are backing me and I strongly believe that power from the people, by the people will be used in their interest."
The Volta regional seat of North Tongu is a safe seat for the ruling National Democratic Congress. The winner of the November 7 primary is expected to become the next MP.
