Only Five (5) out of 30 NPP Elders signed Afoko suspension letter

Starr News can confirm that the letter from the NPP Council of Elders requesting the party’s national chairman Paul Afoko to step aside was signed by only five members of the council out of the 30.

The content of the letter, according to Starr News sources, was never discussed with other members of the council but the five who approved it.

Confirming the report, a founding member of the party Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe told Starr News' Ibrahim Alhassan the move is part of a grand plot to oust Afoko and the General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong.

“We have at least 30 people who form the national elders of the party. Out of this, five had that meeting. And I think that those that cannot be roped into this discussion were not part of this decision. I thank God for that,” he stated.

The NPP has been afflicted with protracted rivalry and mistrust as its National Council of Elders has in the latest twist, requested the party’s national chairman Paul Afoko to step aside until after the 2016 elections.

The Council contends that Mr. Afoko's conduct over the years has brought the image of the party into disrepute.

Afoko, has in response, indicated that no official notification of such request has come to his attention.

Meanwhile, some constituency chairmen of the party in the three regions in the North are accusing the council of elders of tribal bigotry in their request for Mr. Afoko to step aside.
